How Mother's Grace Helps — and How Mothers Who've Been through It Go On to Help Others
Most of what we do starts with a family in the middle of a crisis. But some of the mothers we've walked beside come through it wanting to build something of their own for families like theirs. These three programs cover both ends of that path.
For a family in crisis, right now
Individual & Family Assistance
For a mother and children whose lives have been knocked sideways by something sudden — a new medical diagnosis, a catastrophic accident, the death of a spouse. This is the program almost everyone who reaches us needs, and it's the one most people mean when they ask how Mother's Grace can help.
Assistance covers what's about to come apart first: a rent or mortgage payment, a utility bill, a medical bill, counseling, meals, a ride to treatment. It's one-time help, meant to be a bridge across the worst stretch of a crisis — not ongoing support. Payment goes straight to the landlord, the lender, the utility, or the provider. It's never handed to the family as cash.
This program isn't self-apply. A nomination has to come from someone who knows the family and can speak to what happened — a nurse, a hospital social worker, a counselor, a clergy member, a teacher, a friend.
For a family we've already walked with
The WIND Program
WIND stands for Wishes, Ideas, Needs, and Debt relief. It's a second, more intensive round of support for mothers we've already helped, not a new intake. At least 90 days after her first assistance from Mother's Grace, a mother facing a serious or terminal challenge can work one-on-one with our recipient navigator to shape a Wish, Idea, Need, or Debt relief meant to change her circumstances, not simply steady them.
This program isn't self-apply, and it isn't open nomination either. It's offered directly to mothers we've already supported, when their navigator identifies that a deeper intervention could help. Read more about WIND on Our Story.
For a mother on the other side of crisis
For a Mother Building Something of Her Own
Some of the mothers we've walked beside come through their crisis wanting to build something for other families going through the same thing. These two programs are newer, and we're still shaping exactly how they run — but the door is open.
Organizational Mentorship
For a mother who survived a crisis and wants to start her own 501(c)(3) to help others facing something similar. Mother's Grace supports the early, unglamorous parts of getting a nonprofit off the ground: startup costs, legal and accounting help, and fiscal sponsorship while the new organization finds its footing.
ApplicationOrganizational Grant
For a mother already running her own 501(c)(3) that serves others facing a crisis like the one she came through. Mother's Grace provides grant funding to support that work.
